Persepolis Blog 1

They had to wear a veil because it became a law during the revolution. Marjane's mother was at one of the demonstrations and a German Journalist took a photo of her. Marjane said she was really proud of her mother's photo which was published in all the European newspapers. That photo caused for her mother to get really scared and she even died her hair blonde and would wear dark glasses for a long time. Marjane wanted to be a prophet because God had chosen her. These were his words, "  Yes you are celestial light, you are my last and my best choice." Her relationship with God was really close and she would have a big discussion with him every night before she would go to bed. Marjane learned that her grandfather was a prince, but he got sent to jail and now that she asks her grandmother for him she doesn't answer and changes the subject. Marjane's father also told her that he would get sent to jail often or he would either be put in a cell filled with water for hours.

Six Word Memoir (Final)

Waiting for something that wont happen!

I always have the tendency to wait for something I know won't happen and I don't give up because I want to keep trying and see if I can achieve getting it. Something that inspired me about this story was when my parents always tell me "If you want something, make it happen and keep believing, but don't ever give up because then you won't achieve on anything." An example of something I want to get would be a trip to somewhere that I will relax and forget about everything and I hope I really get to have that trip I've been waiting for. Another example of something I want would be for my aunt to get along with me and my mom. It just hurts me to see that she doesn't like us and that she only likes my dad which is her brother and my 2 younger brothers, but this all leads to jealousy when my grandma use to live. I also would want for all of my mom's brothers and sisters to talk to each other and not argue and cause more drama because that just leads their kids to doing the same and I'm that type of person that gets along with everyone! I chose this picture of this little boy because it shows that he is waiting all sad and bored for that one thing he wants. It could be a scoop of ice-cream or a toy that he's been waiting for since the longest and for me it's a trip somewhere I haven't gone before.

  3. I would add a picture of 2 people dancing a certain step.
  1. I don't like waiting for something I know will not happen, yet I insist on waiting.
  2. Waiting for something that won't happen.
  3. I would put a picture of a kid waiting in a big line for a ride or something.

  1. This is something I believe in.
  2. Eyes are windows for the souls.
  3. I would add a picture of a person with beautiful eyes.

The Whale Rider

For my blog post #2, I'm going to talk about a movie I saw in class called The Whale Rider. It was very interesting and was about a young girl named Pai, that was not valued in her community and/or family because she had a twin brother, but he died at birth and the name they were going to give her brother they gave it to her, but they were saying that she was the one that was suppose to die and not her brother. Pai proved that she was the chosen one by diving into the ocean and getting her grandfather's whale tooth. Pai's grandmother actually liked her and supported her more than she supported her husband. Pai's grandfather didn't kick her out of the house, Pai's mother took her with her and said it would be best if she went with her.

Volleyball is one of my favorite sports and I enjoy playing it very much! I think that the point of playing sports is to have fun and to make unforgettable memories. Don't let anyone tell you how to play or if you're playing wrong or if you suck because you're maybe a starter and eventually will get better with time passing. When I play sports I try to ignore everyone and stop them from telling me how to play because I know I can become a good athlete with time especially when I play soccer, baseball and volleyball. I think that playing volleyball helps me take out my anger whenever I have a problem at home, at school or wherever. I used to go play volleyball every Tuesday at Apollo Park and we would invite a lot of people whether it was family or friends. We also would get there early sometimes and nobody would show up, but people that we didn't know would play there too and they would either invite us to play a quick game with them while our friends showed up or we would invite them. It is really fun playing with other people because even though we don't know them we end up having a great time.
